The estate’s most important wine composed of top quality Prugnolo Gentile (100%) grapes from the Casa Colonica vineyard in Montepulciano. Fermentation and ageing is begun in Slavonian oak vats, 30% of the wines then spends 3-6 months in French oak barriques. Ageing totals 24 months in wood and 6-12 months in the bottle.

Salcheto's mission is to seek quality, both in the vineyard and the cellar, with an unfailing respect for the character of the grapes and the authenticity of their wines. Stylistically, Salcheto’s wines are blessed with soft, elegant textures and pronounced, integrated flavors. Ultimately, their hope is to produce wine that offers a great experience for everyone--top quality drinking for consumers and a fine quality of life experience for those who work at Salcheto.

Though all made from the most famous of Tuscan grapes, Sangiovese, Tuscany is the birthplace of some of the most recognizable Italian wines: Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino. Italy's also a land of district microclimates, so while traditional red's feature the sangiovese grape, they can showcase different lands of structure and flavor characteristics.
