Originating in Greece, the unique Ansonica grape successfully grows in only a few areas in Italy: in Sicily where it’s called Inzolia, and along the Tyrrhenian coast. The Tuscan region known especially for the grape, Ansonica Costa dell'Argentario, earned DOC status in 1995. La Parrina's delicious rendition of this rare grape exhibits exotic fruit and herbal aromatics, which carry over on to the palate. This is a wine that pairs beautifully with fish but is equally good on its own.
Wine Club Selection May 2012 Princeton
La Parrina is a 450 hectare estate stretching over the foothills along the Tyrrhenian coast in the Southern part of Maremma. The estate took shape at the beginning of the nineteenth century and it has remained in the hands of the Giuntini family ever since. The name Parrina is derived from the Castilian word parra, meaning vine or pergola.
