Meet the CoolVines Wine Geek! He’ll guide you toward – or away from! – wines that have a unique flavor profile: intentionally oxidized wines, earthy, stinky wines, wines with a bit of fritz on the tongue. Look for him throughout our web site, and on the shelves in our stores, to point the way toward these geeky wines.
A blend of 50% Colomdard, 30% Ugni Blanc and 20% Gros Manseng, from Gascony south east of Bordeaux, this wine is aromatic with plenty of fruit, floral notes and good acidity. A crisp and refreshing wine perfect for sipping or with seafood and salads.
Gilles Baumann and Janine Cardeillac Baumann took up residence at the family farm in CASSAGNOLES, Gondrin, in 1974. Their home is situated in the heart of the Gascony region, where the family has produced wine for several centuries.
When he took over, the vineyards were primarily used to produce Armagnac.
Gilles gradually restructured and expanded the vineyard and cellar and diversified production.
Over the years, the estate has continued to develop and Gilles and Janine are now at the head of a family estate with several vineyards, where traditional grape varieties are associated with innovative techniques and constant attention is paid to quality.
They received the 'label Excellence Gers' on 2 August 2000 and have been members of the Federation of Private Cellars, independent wine producers, for over 20 years.
Cotes de Gascogne is a wine-growing district in Gascony, producing principally white wine. It is located in the French region Midi-Pyrenees, and it belongs to the wine region South West France. The designation Cotes the Gascogne is used for a Vin de Pays ("country wine") produced in the Armagnac area. The climate is influenced by Atlantic ocean although it is far away behind Les Landes. The Oceans influence causes a rather wet spring with a generally sunny rest of year. The soil of the Cotes du Gascogne is alluvial soil with some clay and sand.
