What's unusual about this wine, aside from its intense floral character, is that after the first racking, a 2nd fermentation is induced by the addition of a must produced from partially dried grapes. This amplifies the lush, deep berry qualities of the wine. While its medium body makes it ample enough to serve with eggplant parmesan, it's still light enough to serve with fish, especially a dish of stewed, dried cod and wild fennel.

Often getting short shrift here in the States, the Marche region on Italy's central-eastern coast produces some of the most drinkable, accessible wines in all of Italy. Be it the delightful Verdicchio grape, or the Rosso Conero & Piceno blends made from Montepulciano & Sangiovese, these wines are made for good food and good times.
