Txakolina is a white wine from the Basque country of Spain, made predominantly with the indigenous grape Hondarribi Zurri. The wine of the locals, it's the most common drink found throughout the tapas bars that line the streets. Simple, straight forward and perfectly suited to socializing it's a great Spring/Summer wine because of it's light bodied nature, clean and crisp flavors, and of course the signature natural spritz. If you are looking for a wine that will transport you to a foreign country, look no further. Txakolina is an experience wine, one of the most authentic Spanish creations, and it's all about the food, the ocean and its people all brought together in a liquid form. Pronounced (chac-o-lee) the Basque, customarily pour this wine in a ceremonious fashion with the bottle held high above the glass causing a waterfall said to enhance the flavors and the slight sparkle of this wine. Just five minutes down the coast from San Sebastian, Ameztoi's vineyards overlook the Atlantic Ocean. The Ameztoi family has been making txakolina in Getaria for seven generations, utilizing the indigenous Hondarribi Zuri and Hondarribi Beltza grapes to craft a light, crisp wine bottled with residual carbon to give it its signature natural spritz.
