Since 1715 Quinta do Noval has been in the business of making world class ports, starting with the Rebello Valente family who owned the land in the heart of the Douro for over a century. This is a Port of only one harvest, produced in a year of good quality, red and full bodied, of good aroma and palate and which is recognized by the "Instituto do Vinho do Porto" as having the right to use the description "Late Bottled Vintage" or "L.B.V.".

Quinta do Noval is situated in the very heart of the Douro valley, in the Cima Corgo, just two kilometres from the small town of Pinhao. The name of Quinta do Noval first appeared in the land registries in 1715. The property was owned for more than a century by the Rebello Valente family, who were given it by the Marques do Pombal, Portugal's all-powerful Prime Minister. In the early XIXth Century, the estate passed by marriage to the Viscount Vilar D'Allen, who was renowned for hosting wild parties at Noval, transporting dancing girls from the Folies Bergeres. Noval made its reputation with the declaration of 1931 - arguably the most sensational Port of the XXth Century.
