This bold, unusual rose boasts grapes grown in red volcanic soil before being hand sorted and fermented in stainless steel. The Tempranillo grape gives this wine a juicy acidity that makes it perfect for summer.

Winemaker Matt Hughes describes the Six Sigma vineyard as the marriage of artisan winemaking and Six Sigma practices, the perfect blend of art and science. Owned by Kaj and Else Ahlmann, who came from business and science backgrounds, before the lure of California vineyard ownership took hold. The winery was established in 2000, and is named after the famous Six Sigma management techniques which Kaj credits to his success as a former CEO. Kaj & Matt employ Six Sigma practices in the vineyard, as they combine the old-world art of making wine with the science of data-driven Six Sigma principles. Kaj states that when you see the Six Sigma logo on a bottle of wine, you will know it stands for consistent quality

Lake County surrounds Clear Lake, the largest natural lake in California. The vineyards are planted throughout the county, from the agriculturally rich valley at 1,370 feet elevation (lake level), to the rocky red volcanic soil at more than 2,000 feet elevation around Mt. Konocti—a dormant volcano in the Pacific Rim chain. These elevations provide cooler winter conditions and a later start to the growing season. Summer growing conditions are suitably warm to ripen the grapes and the elevation allows rapid cooling in the evening. Few grape pests can tolerate the altitude and cool climate. Lake County growers are committed to sustainable farming and participate in year long educational programs to this end.
