harvested in early October and at full maturity - yet while still at a relatively low brix, making this an interesting variety for producing an aromatic, expressive white wine with lower alcohol. It is cool fermented in tank with a fruit enhancing strain of yeast and without a malo-lactic conversion. Post fermentation, it is racked twice, followed by a light fining, a racking and filtration prior to bottling.

Uvaggio is the result of two guys who represent a triple threat: too much experience, a low threshold for boredom and a desire to do something unique, which is why we make wines in California with grape varieties indigenous to Italy. In the past we have made Arneis, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, even a Vin Santo. Our current portfolio includes Barbera, Moscato, Primitivo and Vermentino. Our theory is simple: if California has a climate perfect for growing Mediterranean varietals, why not take advantage of it?

On a plain above the Sacramento Delta lies the wine region of Lodi. Here, soils eroded from the Sierra Mountains result in a multitude of terroir alternatives. Moderating breezes blow in from nearby San Francisco Bay.
