Grown organically in clay and flint, sand and gravel soils, these Sauvignon Blanc grapes are blended with Menu Pineau, also known in the Loire Valley as "Arbois". Aromas of pale stone fruits accompany a lively textured minerality.

Since the Middle Ages, there have been records about the "le Tue-Boeuf" and its excellent wines which were enjoyed by the local nobility and the kings of France.
It's now run by the Puzelat brothers, Thierry and Jean-Marie, who inherited a vineyard populated by esoteric Loire varieties. Together they set about converting the vineyards to organic systems of viticulture, although there was perhaps less to be done here than at some other estates in the region as their father had never been one for the aggressive use of chemicals.

The Touraine appellation sits in the heart of the east-west Loire Valley, mid-way between Orleans and Brittany's coastal city of Nantes. Within the boundaries, to the east lie the great Cabernet Franc vineyards of Chinon, Bourgueil and St Nicolas de Bourgueil. To the west, the Chenin plantings in Vouvray and Montlouis draw international attention. The greater appellation of Touraine has a diverse wine portfolio, allowing many varietals (notably Gamay, Sauvignon Blanc, and the Pineau D'Aunis that goes into Villemaine's rose) in its bottlings. The soil is primarily sand, clay and limestone. While wine styles change as you follow the river, they are made to display freshness and relatively high acidity with oak rarely being used.
