Meet the CoolVines Wine Geek! He’ll guide you toward – or away from! – wines that have a unique flavor profile: intentionally oxidized wines, earthy, stinky wines, wines with a bit of fritz on the tongue. Look for him throughout our web site, and on the shelves in our stores, to point the way toward these geeky wines.
The Manincor estate overlooks the Lake of Kaltern at an altitude of 250 m above sea level; soils are rich -- comprising sand and clay mixed with limestone gravel. Among the warmest in all South Tyrol, these vineyards are pre-destined for the production of great red wines.
Grapes from each parcel of the vineyard were crushed separately and fermented in a mixture of oak and cement vats and stainless steel tanks using only naturally occuring yeasts. The young wine was transferred into oak barrels of varying sizes where it matured for twelve months. Perfect with grilled or roast red meats.

This 400 year old estate balances modernity and tradition: Biodynamic agriculture (Demeter Certified), a state of the art winery, historic buildings built by Hieronymus Manincor dating back to 1608, and a history of winemaking going back to 1698. In its totality, the estate comprises
463 hectares of orchards, vineyards, woodland and meadows.
