The Ledogar family practice natural culture. Poor Weather that premotes disease development is crucial before any intervention in the vineyard. The vineyard is carefully maintained with special care for very old vines of Carignan and Grenache (60 to 110 years) that make up two thirds of the property and this wine. Hand picking to select only healthy grapes with good maturity is also practiced.
Wine Club Selection May 2012 Westfield
This Estate is located in the Grand Lauze Corbières Boutenac region, in a tiny village of Ferrals Corbières. The Boutenac terroir consists of a succession of hills washed by the Mediterranean influences; its poor soils favor the expression of the grape varieties. The vineyard comprises 22 hectares of vines spread around the village mainly on Boutenac terroir.
Corbieres is a wild wine region, not only in style but in landscape. Running inland 60 km from the Mediterranean coast, this region comes eventually to the foothills of the great Pyrenees. Soil types are hugely varied, from a more limestone base at the coast, and graduating to more sandstone and marl further in. Migratory cross-fertilization has created one of the most liberal of all French wine cultures here, and the wines tend to be a tad animale in the best possible way.
