Secret Identity started in 2011 when we aspired to make rosé, but also make it different. In our enthusiasm we took inspiration from the ramato wines of North-Eastern Italy, making skin macerated trouseau gris, instead of the typical pinot grigio used in ramato. We experimented with some fermented in stainless steel, while we did another portion aged in oak. We bottled them separate under the names Secret Identity and Secret Ingredient. The wines turned out to be something truly unique. An opulent and very aromatic wine we often joked it was our "rosé on steroids." Sadly, in 2012, less than 2 years into making wine and still learning the business, we had to make a tough call and decided to focus on our first love Chardonnay.

Flash forward four years, and we are very excited to announce the return of Secret Identity! *Kind of. Our romato style project will continue under the name Secret Ingredient, and Secret Identity has evolved to another style of rosé we have grown to love. Light, aromtic, fresh, and readily drinkable. This wine is the yin to Secret Ingredient's Yang. Equally at home at next to tuna tartare, raw oysters or on it's own out of a mug on your back porch.

Birk O'Halloran was CoolVines first wine buyer, and currently working for the famed A.I. Selections owned by David Weitzenhoffer. The Iconic Wines project started August 2010 while Birk was on a trip to Sonoma for a wedding. While taking some extra time to visit friends he was given an opportunity to buy some grapes from Steve Matthiasson's vineyard "Michael Mara" and so Iconic was born. Iconic Wine is committed to making the kind of wine we like to drink. We think great wines have balance, focus and complexity while showing a strong connection and pride for the place they come from. We do this by enlisting the help of giants and fearlessly pursuing any means that assist us to reach our goal. Iconic Wines is the brain child of Birk O'Halloran and Karl Antle. We met in college and quickly became great friends bonding over our mutual love for whiskey, witty banter and all things nerdy.

On a plain above the Sacramento Delta lies the wine region of Lodi. Here, soils eroded from the Sierra Mountains result in a multitude of terroir alternatives. Moderating breezes blow in from nearby San Francisco Bay.
