The grapes of this classic Chianti were crushed for three or four days and left to
settle for about twenty days. The wine was then
re-fermented with a small addition of hand-selected grapes that were dried on straw mats. This increases its effervescent tone, color and flavor which speaks of cherry and light leather. A great food wine, it's best if decanted for an hour before drinking.
The last of the largest Chianti farms belonging to the Minacci family.
The Bartlettaio is today the name of a thriving farm whose heart beats in the old colonial villa which has been expertly restructured.
The estate, which is spread over six hectors of land and on which for the greater part olive-groves and vineyards are cultivated, produces a classic Chianti wine in a limited number of bottles with passion and commitment to craft.
One of the first areas to classify its borders and become delimited in 1716, Chianti Classico is fixed in minds worldwide as the proto-typical, idyllic Italian wine region. Due to Chianti Classico's relatively high vineyards (800-1600 feet above sea level) and the damp climate, it is a challenge to get the Sangiovese grape to ripen fully in all but the hottest, driest years.
