Meet the CoolVines Wine Geek! He’ll guide you toward – or away from! – wines that have a unique flavor profile: intentionally oxidized wines, earthy, stinky wines, wines with a bit of fritz on the tongue. Look for him throughout our web site, and on the shelves in our stores, to point the way toward these geeky wines.
A refreshing and interesting summer wine, Chateau La Touche is crisp with lively fruit and minerality. Muscadet comes from the Melon de Bourgogne grape (often called Muscadet). It is a cousin of Gamay, which is used to make Beaujolais. Muscadet has nothing to do with Muscat or Muscadelle.
The impassioned wine growers of Chateau La Touche are located in Nantes and more precisely at Vallet, the capital of Muscadet wine production. Producing the Appellation, Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie, has been family owned and operated since 1930. Currently, it is in the 4th and the 5th generations. The vineyard extends on 50 hectares, set out on rich and varied soils.
Muscadet Sevres-et-Maine, officially established in 1936, covering 20,305 acres (8,217 hectares) with 21 villages in the Loire-Atlantique department and 2 in the Maine-et-Loire department. This appellation produces 80% of all Muscadets.
