The Chateau Tour de Gilet Bordeaux Superieur is a left bank blend of 60% Petite Verdot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, interesting since Petite Verdot is generally used as a minor blending grape for Bordeaux wines. They are called "superior" for a reason as Bordeaux Supérieur AOC wines are produced from selected vineyard plots and older vines. As a result, these red wines are generally more complex and have a better aging potential than regular Bordeaux AOC wines. Red Bordeaux Supérieur wines are made from the same varieties as Bordeaux AOC wines, however this AOC has even stricter production norms that the Bordeaux with required smaller yields, a higher permitted alcohol strength, and the producer must age the wines a minimum of 12 months before selling them. The Tour de Gilet 2005 is medium-bodied but with rich tannins and a intense color, this is a serious Bordeaux for the price.
The undisputed king of France's wine regions, Bordeaux sits amidst and astride the rivers Dordogne and Garonne. Accounting for some 800 million bottles produced each year, Bordeaux has built its reputation on quality, with some of the world's most sought-after wines being crafted along the river banks. Bordeaux also creates a large amount of table wine, mostly sourced from the lesser of Bordeaux's 57 appellations. Bordeaux boasts over 10,000 winemakers. Known mostly for the red blends, Bordeaux also enjoys notoriety for its excellent sweet white wines, as well as several high-quality dry whites created mostly in the central regions between the two rivers.

Great value, medium body bordeaux. Decant 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to develope.
