Meet the CoolVines Wine Geek! He’ll guide you toward – or away from! – wines that have a unique flavor profile: intentionally oxidized wines, earthy, stinky wines, wines with a bit of fritz on the tongue. Look for him throughout our web site, and on the shelves in our stores, to point the way toward these geeky wines.
A blend of Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, and Moscato Bianco, this lovely medium-bodied wine is an excellent aperitif or pairing wine. It recalls to mind the Alsace-style field blend, but with a little more new world styling.
Still in its infancy as a wine region Uruguay has found a national white grape and surprisingly it is Gewürztraminer; a grape with a lot of spice!

Pablo Fallabrino has impressed the critics with his dedication to making wines with the best of modern & traditional methods. The son of Italian immigrants, he inherited the winery after the passing of his father in 1995. Pablo often goes through the old family wine making logs and books for wine making inspiration. He does not over-think the wine making process; just runs with his instincts, takes chances and does what naturally comes to him. It's a total zen approach but then again, what else would you expect from a surfing Rastafarian?
Uruguay's wine culture began with the influx of Basque settlers in the last hlf of the 19th Century. These hardy folk brought with them the varietal Tannat, which they found to ripen far differently in this new, warmer & wetter climate. Largely a mass-production wine country, today finds several innovative younger producers taking advantage of the cooler regions to the south, where Antarctic air patterns provide cool nights and help drying the crop, thereby preventing the wet weather to rot the fruit.
