Meet the CoolVines Wine Geek! He’ll guide you toward – or away from! – wines that have a unique flavor profile: intentionally oxidized wines, earthy, stinky wines, wines with a bit of fritz on the tongue. Look for him throughout our web site, and on the shelves in our stores, to point the way toward these geeky wines.
Named after a team climb of the Mont Ventoux in 2009 this special cuvee is a 50/50 blend of Grenache Blanc and old vine Clairette. The Grenache Blanc is picked at peak ripeness for richness and texture and spends 3 months in lightly toasted oak before blending with the Clairette which contributes a fresh acidity.
Marc Pichon purchased Domaine le Murmurium in the Cote de Ventoux village of Mormoiron in early 2008. It comprised 13 hectares of old vineyards on prime terroir and its name is derived from a Latin phrase meaning "the buzzing song of bees". This explains the bees on the labels of Anne's wines!
At the estate, all of the vineyard work is done by hand using only organic methods. The winemaking is of a sensitive nature, always true to the peculiarities of each vintage in order to highlight its virtues.
Provence is a region famous for its beautiful landscapes, famous artistic residents, outstanding cuisine and not to be missed wines. The top wine choice for the local cuisine is usually rose, although the fuller bodied reds from Bandol and Aix-en-Provence are getting increased recognition from the recent southern Rhone wine explosion. Almost all the wines from Provence are lively blends of several grapes, each with original personalities in other places such as Bordeaux, the Rhone or even Italy. Much of the AOC borders the Mediterranean Sea, and with the sun baking the rocky soil almost year round, grape vines and olive trees thrive.
