A blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot the vineyards of Villacreces are some of the most sought-after pieces of land in Ribera del Duero. The estate of Villacreces sits next to Vega Sicilia, perhaps (historically) the most famous property in the region. It was owned for years by the Cuadrado family but in 2003 was sold to the Anton family, owners of a Rioja bodega and one of Spain's most famous Michelin starred restaurants in the Basque country.
Out of the 60 hectares of Finca Villacreces, only half of them (the oldest) were used to produce Villacreces wine. The rest of the grapes were being elaborated the same way and aged in the same type of barrels to produce a wine that was sold to another top producer from Ribera. It is from these younger vines that Pruno was created in order to satisfy the demand in the market for a high quality wine with a lower price.
80 miles north of Madrid, Ribera del Duero is a region of beautiful landscape, extreme temperatures, and harsh intensity. While only being a D.O. since 1982, family run bodegas have been growing grapes and making wine for many generations. The region's combination of unique terroir, specific micro climates, and years of study and technique of their native grape Tempranillo, make for suburb and complex wines.

This was excellent with a spread of tapas. Very drinkable and smooth. It made the next bottle (a different red) nearly undrinkable by comparison. This was great alone and with the food.
