Jelu, from the native Huarpe Indian language meaning sun, comes from the lesser known winemaking region of Patagonia, Argentina. The vineyards are planted in the valley of the Neuquen River, and only the best grapes are hand selected for their Pinot Noir. Led by British Master of Wine Angela Muir, her winemaking team has created an environment that brings out the best of the Argentinean terroir. While Patagonia is best known for it's breathtaking landscapes, recent investment has been made in creating world class vineyards. This Pinot Noir has a little bit of everything, balanced flavors, good acidity, smooth tannins and a really nice finish. This wine would pair well with plenty of foods including roast pork or chicken, but it very approachable on it's own.

The entire Jelu project was sprearheaded in 2002 by British Master of Wine Angela Muir, and her leadership has created an winemaking environment that brings out the best of the Argentinean terroir. In a short amount of time some of their vineyard have already been recognized as a potentially world class site for wines and the entire project was created to promote the uniqueness terroir of the Zonda Valley and the growing conditions of Patagonia.

While Patagonia is best known for it's breathtaking landscapes and seemingly harsh climate swings, recent investment has been made in creating world class vineyards. The combination of the unique growing conditions and soil types allow winemakers to produce interesting wines of character and elegance for a fraction of the price of their counterparts in the United States or Europe. One of the area's best virtues is the swift winds which produces dryness in the atmosphere helping to avoid any outbreaks of diseases. This translates into the possibility of becoming a hot spot for organically grown wines, who do not need the use of agro-chemical protections.
